‘Blue Rhythms’ - Factory 49, Sydney. 2020

Blue Rhythm 2020 took place in an artist run gallery, Factory 49 in Marrickville, providing the perfect venue to consolidate the work undertaken during my MFA the year prior, , within a singular space. Blue Rhythm explores the intricate relationship between forms, the figure and architecture. As each piece was unloaded and placed within the space, the process of stacking and moving the structures began with each responding to each other, my body and the physical space until a larger arrangement was formed. Although many of the elements were heavy to move, the process allowed for a sense of play and spontaneity. As the name suggests, Blue Rhythm, also reflects the correlation of this process to that of improvisation of jazz musicians, where musician’s respond spontaneously creating unique arrangements.
